History of Borana Conservancy Kenya
Borana conservancy, was back then, after the First World war in the 1920s, a ranch for herding and grazing alongside, the wild animals.
In 1984, Michael Dyer was in management of the ranch and he started rethinking about the ideas of conservation.
In the same year, Rhinos were reintroduced to Lewa Wildlife conservancy and so it did happen to Borana ranch.
After successful progress made, Borana ranch was formally established in 2012 as a conservancy. It was gazetted as a protected area and got recognized by KWS and also the Ministry of Tourism.
In the following year, a number of Black Rhinos got translocated from Lake Nakuru National Park to Lewa and Borana protected areas.
